I guess this is a “value brand” as snus goes, though it takes a little while for that to really become evident. As a straight white portion, it doesn’t quite have the salty bite that you get out of Skruf, but isn’t as mild as Ettan. As with many plain white portions, I get definite notes of black tea. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initial flavor graduates to more of a straight tobacco and light bergamot flavor. I’m hesitant to call it “citrus”, but there’s a sourness there that reminds me of Tre Ankare. Deeper into a session, it gets a little peppery and makes me wish for Tre Ankare or Ettan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I can get a good 30 – 45 minutes out of a portion before the wheels start to fall off. Low drip, nice flavor, and then it just gets kind of gross. My guess here is that the flavorings are gone by the 45 minute mark. The drip starts to get going heavier, and it’s not very pleasant. I can’t really pinpoint what<\/em> it tastes like exactly. For the sake of comparison, it’s kind of like when you have a decent sugarless gum, and reach that point where the flavor is long gone and the consistency starts to get weird. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

That’s around the point where I kind understand why this costs almost half as much as Tre Ankare. The quality doesn’t seem much different, the portion material feels more or less the same, but you can keep a portion of Tre Ankare going for about as long as you want. With Kaliber, you’re probably not going to want to make it longer than an hour unless you’re looking for maximum value. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you’re looking for a deeper flavor in a straight white portion, you could do a lot worse than Kaliber. And if you’re building yourself a grab bag of different flavors, the price point here makes it a no-brainer to add to your haul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
