As an American, I couldn’t help but wonder what Swedish people would make something called Americana taste like. I wasn’t really looking for something extra strong, but my curiosity demanded that I buy this.
Dr. Pepper. That’s what Americans starts out like. Let me take a step back here: When you open the can, it smells pretty awful. Indescribable. But as soon as it goes in, it’s like a flashback to kissing a girl I knew who was all but addicted to Dr. Pepper Lip Smackers.

There were a couple of really unexpected things I noticed in Americana. First, for an original / non-white portion, the drip isn’t very heavy. And second: the flavor evolves as time goes on. So you get that initial Dr. Pepper wave, but after a while, it gently transforms into an amaretto flavor, kind of like Disaronno. Not what I’d call particularly American, but awfully good.
As I’ve mentioned with other types of snus, Swedish Match lists this as having acesulfame K sweetener. This is definitely sweet, and if you’re sensitive to artificial sweetener, you may want to skip this one.
As an extra strong portion, it doesn’t blast you off to Mars with nicotine, but has a definite punch that you won’t find in a two-dot portion.
I couldn’t do Americana as an all-day / everyday snus. Honestly, I think it would give me a headache if I enjoyed it more than once or twice a day. But it’s one of the few I’ve tried that left me with a craving for more.
