Jakobsson’s Strong Cola

One of the things I learned from e-cigarettes is that nobody, but nobody can replicate a decent cola flavor in something that isn’t cola. Yet, I thought I’d give this a shot.

I didn’t try this out until I had at least a month’s worth of experience with snus, because I was concerned about the “strong” aspect. Especially clocking in at 1.4 on the nicotine scale. And for the most part, I’m glad I waited after trying things from The Lab and Nick & Johnny. Don’t start out on this one.

The portion size seemed unusually large to me, and the portions themselves are the first I’ve felt in my hand that are actually sticky.

So the cola flavor. Well… it’s a lot like the gummy cola candy you can get here in the U.S. Where there’s too much lemon that you’d never taste in regular cola, and it seems to be there countering what seems to me to be a bit of cherry flavoring. There’s also an unusual minty flavor that I can’t quite place. But overall, if you’ve had a gummy cola bottle, you can basically expect that flavor here.

The drip started off very slow, but once it got going, it kept going. It quickly became something similar to American dip, complete with the throat burn, almost immediate stomach growling, and hiccups. I’m sure that has a lot to do with the higher nicotine content, but it was unpleasant, to say the least.

I haven’t written off Jakobsson’s entirely, but this is probably a “one and done” snus for me.

Final note: these (not surprisingly) contain a sweetener, but I haven’t been able to locate exactly what they’re using.
